I am so so excited for this post. This room is very special for multiple reasons. When we first moved into this house I knew this room would soon become a nursery. We lived here a year without putting any effort into the room. We had a mattress and a box spring on the ground with and old dresser in there and that was it. I didn’t even bother buying a bed because we knew we wanted to grow our family sooner rather than later.
The whole process of putting this room together caused me to do a lot of reflecting as well.
When I got pregnant with Kinsley, Chris was going into his third and final year of grad school. A month before her due date we had to move out of our apartment and first home together. Our lease ended at the first of August and we were going to be leaving in December, so we didn’t want to take the risk with renewing for an entire year.
So we left our cozy cute apartment to move into a teeny tiny cabin for the next four months. I actually thought our apartment was small before we had to stay in that cabin. Ya’ll just have no idea.
Needless to say, I didn’t get to plan a nursery for Kinsley. I dreamed about it and imagined what I would do if we were able to. It was something I wanted for her, she deserved her own sweet baby nursery, but it wasn’t something that was possible in our situation.
Looking back now, I’m so thankful for that time in our lives. I was not ideal by any means, but it gave me so much more appreciation for where we are now. God has blessed us beyond measure in every single way.
As I’ve planned out this nursery for our new baby girl, I am constantly reminded of that time and feel so blessed and grateful to be able to do this room for Hattie. I get to bring her home to our actual HOME and show her her very own nursery. How awesome is that.
I’m also ridiculously thankful for my super amazing hard working husband. He gave me a budget and let me do whatever I wanted with this room, no questions asked! He knew how much this meant to me to have this room ready for her and it means the world to me that he let me run with it.
And ya’ll know I had no idea this baby was a girl before our gender reveal. I had a baby boy nursery planned out in my head and I had ZERO ideas of what I would do if it was a girl. That’s how convinced I was it was a boy. I’m pretty sure I started some serious baby girl nursery research on the way home from the gender reveal party! But this room has come together so perfectly and I am absolutely IN LOVE!
I ended up finding a swaddle I really liked and kind of planned the nursery around that. I went with a light peachy floral theme. It is super simple but so sweet.
Let me know what you think!
